We started giving Noah rice cereal when he was 3.5 months and he did really well.
I tried introducing oats 3 weeks later and it seemed that reaction was not so good. Another 3 weeks later I tried barley, same reaction as the oats which was a big crying jag about an hour after eating the wheat/gluten cereal. I tried oats one more time at 5 months just to be sure it wasn't a coincidence, and the same thing happened in addition to a rash around his face, so no more wheat and gluten for a while-- or maybe never.
This week Noah will be 6 months old so I pulled out the carrots last week. He didn't really like them, but no intolerance or allergic reaction. I then tried green beans 3 days later, which he really liked and also tolerated well. So today I decided was Sweet Potato day.
HE LOVED THEM! Best reaction I've had since we started the beginner foods. I was so pleased!
However, this evening when he awoke from his nap, he was out of sorts. This kid does not cry unless he is tired, hungry, or there is something wrong. He is easily consoled or distracted. But not this evening. He finally calmed down and I got a bath ready for him.
He was a nice, fresh, clean smelling baby. As we were walking back to the living room, I heard this God awful sound. It was the cross between a burp and a tummy rumbling. I looked at Noah and asked if he was ok, he smiled at me, and then all of a sudden, "BBBBBBBUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRLLLLLLLLLLECCCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHH!!!'
Projectile vomit all over my arm, all over the floor, but luckily not on him. And the smell. OH MY GOSH. DISGUSTING. However, he was quite himself after the whole puking incident. Then 5 minutes later, much to my dismay, I smelled poop. He already had his poop today-- I guess he really wanted to be rid of those sweet potatoes.
I gathered him up, and proceeded to change his bum. I don't know how it happened, but there was poop on his hand, and then to my horror, I looked at his face. THERE WAS POOP ON HIS FACE AND HE HAD HIS FINGERS IN HIS MOUTH.
I was gagging and freaking out in my head while trying to remain composed so I didn't scar my child for life. I wiped his mouth and inside of his mouth with a baby wipe. I don't know if that is a good idea, but it's got to be better than poop, right?
So, what happens when a kid eats their own poop? **Gag**
Thank God today is over.

I am literally CRYING I am laughing so hard...LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. That is nasty. My kids haven't done that yet...hahhha, PHEW! I have had a few incidences with poop-prints on the floor, but none on hands or mouth..lolol. Jody just said he ate it when he was a baby, so you be the judge of how ok it will be later in life..hahahaahaha. BTW, the baby wipes I hope are fine, too because I caught Eli pulling them all out and chewing on them..lol. THAT story made my night...lol.
Thank you for the good laugh. Rylan was so crabby/fussy today that I did not think I was going to make it until Nick got home from work! Glad to know there are other ftm's out there going through their own struggles : )
poop and all.

OMG, I am laughing so hard right now!!!! Poor baby (for the puking!)
Oh dear God, Sandy!!! That was so nasty but I seriously almost fell off my chair laughing! Braedan barfed on me with that "burp" noise once when he was sick - whole 10 oz bottle and cereal right down my cleavage. I feel for you!
I hope wipes are ok because I've done the "ew your hand got in what?!" wipe before and instantly she grabs it and sticks it in her mouth.
Oh My Gosh! that story had me laughing but i'm sure it wasn't funny while it was happening. Hope Noah is alright after all this happening, poor little guy.

Kay has put her own poop in her mouth also. I won't go into detail, but let's just say, we both survived it. LOLOL
